Before you go
You must REPLY to the Fuel Fund email after paying your share, with the amount, payment method and confirmation number — the grant will not process without it. Check your spam folder for that email. Applications are only accepted Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9am-12pm.
What they do
A nonprofit that helps BGE customers pay a portion of their bill. The application is online only, and opens on a set schedule each week. The process has several steps and people most often get stuck at the final one — replying to the confirmation email after paying their own share.
Services offered
- Step 1 — Apply online during the Tuesday or Wednesday window
- Step 2 — Watch for an email from payments@fuelfundmaryland.org telling you your required portion (check your spam folder)
- Step 3 — Pay your portion to BGE, with cash at ACE, Fidelity or Walmart, or by card through BGE customer service
- Step 4 — Reply to the Fuel Fund email with the amount paid, the method, and the confirmation number
- Step 5 — Allow 10-14 business days for the grant to process
Who qualifies
You must be a BGE customer, have received no Fuel Fund grant in the last 365 days, have no power in your home, hold an active BGE turn-off notice, and have made 4 successful payments to BGE in the past 365 days.
